I am a sketch artist, photographer, and painter, who spends her time working as a nurse during the day. I am also a mother of two beautiful children. Who spends her time seeking creative inspirations from daily life and nature.

I am also a self-taught artist, who likes watching artistic videos to learn new and different techniques. I am a visual and hands-on learner.

My mother would take plain ceramic figures and paint them into something beautiful. She once painted a whole precious moments nativity scene. I remember watching her careful precision with each light stroke against the figure. It took such patience and technique, which was inspiring to show such restraint and grace with the paintbrush. The first paint by number gift I was given, was from my brother.

The small sections you had to paint taught me discipline and not to get too far ahead of yourself or the outcome will be different than it was intended to be. Next came learning how to paint flower petals using two paint colors and how each paintbrush has its own purpose. The smooth twist of the paintbrush once it touched the canvas, would turn into a beautiful pansy petal.

Starting in elementary school, I always looked forward to art class or craft projects. I loved how you could turn a blank piece of paper into anything you wanted it to be. Your imagination can take you anywhere and on journeys you never expected. When packing lunch for school, my father would draw little sketches on my napkins.

Upon opening my lunchbox, I would find a sketch of something different every day. Whether it would be an animal or a person. It could brighten any day.

As I got older, the techniques became more difficult and more intricate. What once was a smiley face, was now a portrait. And what once was a stick figure, was an actual person. I loved challenging myself to push further. Try techniques that I hadn't tried before or learned about other mediums. I felt like I couldn’t learn enough, fast enough.

Then I decided to further my skills, by enrolling in Full Sail University for 3-D Art’s. In my current project that I am working on,  I am an illustrator for a six-book series covers for Daughter of Athena. I recently drew the first book cover and it didn’t come out well, my friend has been pushing me to work harder on my drawing. Since then the first book cover is looking better than the first one did.

I felt called to Nursing, cause I always wanted to help people and make them feel better. But my passion was art. At work, I would find myself drawing a flower while waiting for a patient to pick up the phone. Art was always a just pen stroke away. I have come to realize over-time that art is healing as well.

Whatever emotions that you are feeling, a blank canvas is always waiting for you to let it out. Sometimes the end results take your breath away. I have found that art can calm you, make you laugh, or make you cry.
